Venusaur EX + Exeggutor EX

Even though the end goal of the deck is to get to Venusaur, you'll often find that Exeggutor can handle well on its own. The Exeggutors serve as a 1 energy tank that can deal damage while you build the Venusaur in the back. Generally, you would want Exeggutor to take you to the late gate which is when Venusaur serves as clean up with its high HP and sustain. This deck generally only allows room for 2 Pokemon to be fainted so you have to be careful with the Basic and Stage 1 Pokemon.

If/or Exeggutor goes down you only have 1 point left to spare and having 2 Bulbasaur out at the same time leaves you vulnerable to Sabrina since we only have 1 Venusaur. The second Bulbasaur and Ivysaur are only there for faster draw. A variation of the deck does exist with only 1 Bulbasaur but it tends to be a bit more risky.

Use Erika as needed to buy more time since Venusaur does take a long time to get online. You can make a few subs in items including Potions, and Red Card or even a Fossil if you would like. 

Charizard EX + Moltres EX are a big threat since Charizard EX is one of the few cards that can 1 shot Venusaur.
