Spank The Mankey

Pokemons

  • Mankey x2
  • Primeape x2
  • Dome Fossil x2
  • Kabuto x2
  • Kabutops x2

Trainers

  • Sabrina x1
  • Giovanni x2
  • Professor's Research x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x1

This deck guarantees Mankey in your opening hand, with Poké Ball available to quickly pull a second Mankey if needed. The Promo Mankey is essential, as its move causes 10 self-damage, allowing for an easy evolution setup that hits for 100 damage per turn with Primape's "Fight Back" attack. While less effective, the Apex Mankey can be substituted until two Promo Mankeys are able to be included. Kabutops serves as an effective staller to build up additional Primape as it is a strong hitter with high self-healing capabilities.

Reforged Steel

Pokemons

  • Caterpie x2
  • Metapod x2
  • Butterfree x2
  • Meltan x2
  • Melmetal x2
  • Mawile x1

Trainers

  • Sabrina x1
  • Professor's Research x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2

This deck requires a bit of skill to use, but it’s proven powerful against many EX decks. The main strategy centers on building up both Melmetal and Butterfree to maximize their abilities. Melmetal’s "Hard Coat" ability automatically reduces incoming damage by 20, while Butterfree’s "Healing Powder" restores 20 HP each turn to both your active and benched Pokémon. Together, they effectively reduce 40 damage per turn.

Arcanine/Moltres/Wigglytuff EX control deck

Pokemons

  • Growlithe x2
  • Arcanine ex x2
  • Moltres ex x1
  • Jigglypuff x2
  • Wigglytuff ex x2

Trainers

  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2
  • Giovanni x2
  • Sabrina x1

Hard to use deck that have a very high winrate against decks that primarily use pokemons with 120/130 hp. Very versatile as you can build both a Moltres/Arcanine ex combo, as well as a Wigglytuff ex to disrupt your opponent with sleep. The exception is decks that can reliably oneshot your Arcanine EX, where you NEED to build your Wigglytuff first. So meta and deck knowledge is needed.

Poison Trap

Pokemons

  • Ekans x2
  • Koffing x2
  • Arbok x2
  • Weezing x2

Trainers

  • Koga x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

An aggressive choice for countering and stalling out high-energy meta decks. Use Sabrina to force opponents to switch out their backline Pokémon, then secure KOs with Arbok by denying their retreat. The goal is to score points on enemy Pokémon as quickly as possible and disrupt their strategy.

Weezing is great for getting chip damage in with Gas Leak, especially on main Pokémon with high HP. It also works with Koga as a stall Pokémon, as it can take some hits before being returned to your hand and switched out for Arbok's damage attack.

Koga Alakazam

Pokemons

  • Abra x2
  • Kadabra x2
  • Alakazam x2
  • Koffing x2
  • Weezing x2

Trainers

  • Koga x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Professor's Research x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2

Deck Source

Strategy is to use Weezing to stall and poison until Alakazam is ready, then use Koga for a "free" retreat. Energy is Dark/Psychic, each Pokemon only needs a single coloured pip to function. Weezing is mostly there to act as a meatshield and poison, but I have found the fail rate of "you only get Dark energy" low enough to be worth the extra attacker.

Koga's Dragonite

Pokemons

  • Koffing x2
  • Weezing x2
  • Dratini x2
  • Dragonair x2
  • Dragonite x2

Trainers

  • Koga x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

Deck Source

Low barrier to entry, easy to play, non-ex deck that consistently wipes many meta Genetic Apex decks (including Pikachu ex and Mewtwo ex).

Remember to turn dark energy generation off in the deck builder  -- this deck does not use it.

The main strategy is to set up Dragonair on the bench as soon as possible. Keep Weezing active while setting up.

Starmie EX

Pokemons

  • Staryu x2
  • Starmie ex x2
  • Articuno ex x2

Trainers

  • Misty x2
  • Giovanni x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

It is a flexible deck with two possible starters:

Exeggutor Ex

Pokemons

  • Exeggutor ex x1
  • Exeggutor x1
  • Exeggcute x2
  • Caterpie x2
  • Metapod x2
  • Butterfree x2

Trainers

  • Erika x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

It's fun!

Try to get both Butterfrees rolling for maximum heal, while Exeggutor tanks. Swap so you can heal other Exeggutor in bank. And only get heads.

Marowak EX/Primeape

Pokemons

  • Marowak ex x2
  • Cubone x2
  • Primeape x2
  • Mankey x2

Trainers

  • Sabrina x2
  • Giovanni x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

Marowak EX was initially accompanied by Dugtrio because of its low retreat cost and damage prevention with Dig. However, since Promo Mankey has been introduced, Marowak EX can be paired with hard-hitter that allows you to inflict heavy damage from second turn, no matter what Pokémon you open the battle with. Quick offensive can be successful against decks that require little more time to prepare for heavy attacks.

Depends on your opening hand, you can start the fight with either:

Kiloude City Shuffle

Pokemons

  • Bellsprout x2
  • Weepinbell x2
  • Victreebel x2
  • Pidgey x1
  • Pidgeotto x1
  • Pidgeot x1
  • Old Amber x2
  • Aerodactyl x2

Trainers

  • Professor's Research x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x1

This deck is hilarious to play but incredibly frustrating for opponents, especially those with powerhouse decks that require heavy energy buildup.

Start with Bellsprout, aiming to evolve into Victreebel as your primary attacker. Build out Aerodactyl and a second Victreebel next, with Pidgeot as a backup option. Alternatively, starting with Aerodactyl can sometimes lead to a quick win if your opponent’s bench is empty.

Anti Meta

Pokemons

  • Cubone x2
  • Marowak x1
  • Marowak ex x1
  • Mankey x2
  • Primeape x2
  • Zubat x2
  • Golbat x2

Trainers

  • Sabrina x2
  • Giovanni x1
  • X Speed x1
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

Strong cheap deck Vs the popular Mewtwo and Pikachu decks

Stack deck with only fighting energy as Zubat/Golbat do not require dark energy

Articuno 18T

Pokemons

  • Articuno ex x2

Trainers

  • Misty x2
  • Giovanni x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Hand Scope x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Red Card x2
  • Professor's Research x2

Reliant on Misty to generate energy quickly and start dealing damage. Avoid playing 2nd Articuno prematurely to avoid Sabrina.

Mewtwo/Gardevoir

Pokemons

  • Mewtwo ex x2
  • Mewtwo x1
  • Ralts x2
  • Kirlia x2
  • Gardevoir x2

Trainers

  • Giovanni x1
  • Sabrina x1
  • Professor's Research x2
  • Poke Ball x2

Mewtwo Ex & Gardevoir

Pokemons

  • Mewtwo ex x2
  • Ralts x2
  • Kirlia x2
  • Gardevoir x2
  • Meowth x2

Trainers

  • Sabrina x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

Starting with Meowth lets us draw a card using Pay Day, which helps us find essential resources or our Kirlias and Gardevoirs. This is crucial for a setup-intensive deck like Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir.

Mewtwo ex shines during the late game, taking out damaged and low HP Pokémon using Psychic Sphere. And also can hit with his big attack Psydrive.

Metallurgy

Pokemons

  • Pawniard x2
  • Bisharp x2
  • Meltan x1
  • Melmetal x1
  • Pidgey x1
  • Pidgeotto x1
  • Pidgeot x1

Trainers

  • Giovanni x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Potion x1
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Professor's Research x2

This deck is how I went from 10 to 45 wins with an 80% win rate. It's Anti-Meta and beginner friendly. Anti-Meta, because it hits hard and fast and doesn't allow players to set up properly. Honestly, I think the deck is so unique players just have a hard time figuring out what to do. It's beginner friendly because there are no EX or high value cards needed. I didn't even realize this until I was making this guide.
